What is Elbow Arthritis?
The elbow joint consists of three different bones with different articulations The combination of elbow flexion and extension, as well as forearm rotation, allows for placement of the hand for activities of daily living. In addition to severe elbow pain, the stiffness from elbow arthritis can become disabling, making it difficult to perform simple activities.
Signs and Symptoms
Common symptoms of elbow arthritis include pain and stiffness around the elbow, swelling, difficulty bending or straightening the elbow, pain when rotating the forearm and instability and weakness in the elbow.
Treatment Options
Common treatment options for elbow arthritis include heat and ice, over the counter medications, splints and braces, and cortisone injections.
